Biograft is a biocompatible and bioactive material which has Hydroxyapatite phase as the major constituent and beta Tri calcium Phosphate as one of the other phases .The porous and crystalline structure provides Osteoconductivity and resorbability.Hydroxyapatite has a stoichiometry similar to natural bone structure.It provides an Osteoconductive scaffold in the bone regenerative process.

Hydroxyapatite is a surface-active material which reacts with its biological surroundings through the exchange of calcium and phosphate ions present in the material. These ions in turn trigger bio-mineralization to form the regenerative crystals through primary and secondary nucleation to form genetically determined hard tissues. Therefore, this material shows high potential to be used as osteo-conductive material in regenerative surgical modalities. The material offers a physical matrix to guide the in-growth of normal hard tissues into the required area and results rapid bone formation with a predetermined structural pattern.
The interconnected porous structure with engineered optimal porosity provides for accelerated physical process of dissolution and biological process of cellular attachment and osteoid deposition .Biograft is developed to elicit interface activity, bone regrowth and implant resorption.
Interporous Hydroxyapatite has been compared in clinical literature with cancellous autograft in filling of fractures / bone defects and for Dental surgeries with respect to bone growth but with much lesser complications.

CONTRA INDICATIONS
• Not to be used in areas containing infection.
• Not to be used for load bearing bone defects .
• Not recommended for patients with abnormal metabolic condition, undergoing prolonged drugs treatment or with immunodeficient syndrome.

• As granules is placed directly on the application area and wetted with patient blood, PRP ( Platelet reinforced Plasma ) or saline solution followed by sutures .The porous structure promotes colonization of osteogenic cells from the patient blood.
• Is used in conjunction with resorbable or non-resorbable membrane for guided tissue regeneration
( GTR )

GRANULES / BLOCKS :
BioGraft is available in 2 granular sizes with unique porosity for smaller / larger bony defects and in blocks
( rectangles,wedges,cylinders,cones ) of different porosity for specific applications . BioGraft is available as BioGraft - HA ( Hydroxyapatite ) and BioGraft - HT ( combination of HA and beta Tri Calcium Phosphate )
STERILISATION :
Biograft is packaged in special containers sterilized by gamma-ray radiation .
RECOMMENDED PRECAUTIONS :
• Single use only,do not resterilise or reuse
• Not intended for immediate load bearing applications
• Do not overfill defects
• Do not leave defect open
• Do not compromise blood supply to the defect area
• The bone graft should be used with membrane for larger quantities or longer cross section
• Please apply immediately to application area on opening sterilized packaging
• Surgical process should be carefully planned by Surgeon to avoid infection and should not be used in infected area or secondary wounds.
• Do not use if package is opened or damaged or if expiry date is exceeded
